Our Bistro Evenings for 2019

Our unique bistro evenings at Cafe in the Park offer your taste buds the chance to travel far and wide without having to dig out the passport! Each evening offers a nationally themed menu, with our homemade versions of some famous dishes alongside some lesser known classics from each country. We provide a generous set menu at a set price, and to keep costs down we invite you to bring your own wine, with just a small corkage charge. Our Bistro Evenings have become very popular and book up very quickly so if you would like to book a table, please do so in advance securing your booking with a non-refundable £10 deposit. 15 year Anniversary Celebrations

In June 2015 we celebrated our 15 year anniversary with a Super Hero fun filled day for all the family. As well as a huge fair ground in the park we hosted a variety of free attractions for all the family from learning circus acts, arts and crafts tents, a mini zoo, archery, climbing wall, birds of prey, stilt walkers, fire eaters, jugglers and belly dancers performing around the park. Children of all ages came in their favourite Super Hero costumes and prizes were given out to the chosen winners, including a weekend break at Gullivers Kingdom Hotel at Warrington. Pan-Demonium in the Park

FLIP-FILLED fun was brought to Matlock on Tuesday as an inaugural pancake race took place in the park. Marking Shrove Tuesday,  Matlock Mercury editor Amanda Hatfield set about organising the relay race through Hall Leys. And the new event appeared to strike a culinary chord as almost 20 competitors spread across five teams donned their frying pans and batter mixture to sprint from the starting point at Cafe in the Park, around the bandstand to the bridge where a team mate was waiting to begin the next leg. The four-lap was race was eventually won by Cafe in the Park, but there were valiant efforts from teams that had entered from Sainsbury’s, Haddon Hall, The Matlock Town Team and C Farmer Ltd electrical shop on Causeway Lane. Family Fun Celebration

Mad Hatters descended on Matlock park for a tea party celebration on Saturday. The cafe in Hall Leys Park marked a decade in business by joining forces with arts organisation Matlock Live to host an Alice In Wonderland-themed day of family fun. Kate Lane, who owns the cafe, said she wanted to give something back to her loyal customers and offered free tea and coffee all day. Activities on offer included a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a fancy dress parade, face painting, children's storytelling, live performances, fair ground rides, a bouncy slide, barbecue and a giant Scalextric. Youngsters also had the chance to try our craft activities, make creative hats and decorate biscuits. The event closed with a performance from Matlock Brass Band. Celebrating a Decade in Business

A Traditional Matlock cafe is celebrating a decade in business by hosting a day of family fun in the park. Kate Lane, who took over Hall Leys Park Cafe ten years ago, has joined forces with arts organisation Matlock Live to mark the anniversary on Saturday, June 5th. Kate, who lives in Matlock, said "I wanted to give something back to my loyal customers by offering free tea and coffee all day and a variety of fun activities for children."
